There isn't much you can do in this small conector path, although you can train your Pokemon before going into the Viridian
Forest.
There is one small patch of grass that you can wander in to battle a Pidgey, Rattata, a Nidoran, or a Caterpie.
You can also come back to here later to get HP Up, Moon Stone, and HM 05 Flash once you have CUT.
Now walk north into the building that leads into the Viridian Forest.
